9-Day Iceland Adventure: Blue Lagoon, South Coast, Golden Circle & Snæfellsnes Peninsula

Embark on an unforgettable journey through Iceland’s land of fire and ice, where glaciers, waterfalls, geysers, and geothermal wonders meet charming villages and vibrant Reykjavik. This 9-day escorted tour combines adventure, relaxation, and cultural discovery with first-class accommodations, expert guides, and optional excursions. Witness the Blue Lagoon, explore the South Coast’s dramatic landscapes, and experience the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, often called “Iceland in miniature.”


DAY 1, Wednesday – Depart for Iceland

Depart your home city for Iceland, anticipating an Arctic adventure full of natural wonders, scenic landscapes, and Icelandic culture.


DAY 2, Thursday – Arrive in Reykjavik

Arrive in Iceland and transfer to your hotel in Reykjavik, the world’s northernmost capital, surrounded by volcanic landscapes, fjords, and geothermal springs. Early arrivals can leave luggage with the concierge while rooms are prepared. The afternoon is at leisure to explore the city’s compact, walkable streets. Attend an orientation meeting with your Tour Manager at 6 PM.

DAY 3, Friday – Blue Lagoon & Reykjavik City Tour

Begin your day with a visit to the world-famous Blue Lagoon, a mineral-rich geothermal spa in the middle of a lava field. Relax in warm waters, reputed for their healing properties, and enjoy the dramatic surrounding scenery.

Return to Reykjavik for a city tour, including the Old Town, Alþingi Parliament, Dómkirkjan Cathedral, City Hall, harbor, Höfði House, and the iconic Hallgrímskirkja Church. Conclude with Flyover Iceland, an immersive flight simulation over Iceland’s glaciers, volcanoes, and lava fields, complete with wind, mist, and scent effects.

DAY 4, Saturday – Geothermal Power, Lava Center, South Coast Waterfalls

Depart Reykjavik for Hellisheiði Geothermal Power Plant, a showcase of Icelandic innovation in sustainable energy. Continue through farmland and mountains, viewing the towering Hekla Volcano. Visit the Lava Center to explore Iceland’s volcanic and geological wonders interactively.

Stop at Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss, two of Iceland’s most spectacular waterfalls, and pass by Sólheimajökull Glacier, learning about the effects of climate change. Weather permitting, stop at Dyrhólaey Nature Reserve for stunning coastal views. Overnight and dinner in Kirkjubæjarklaustur.

DAY 5, Sunday – Diamond Beach, Fjallsárlón, Svinafellsjokull Glacier

Start with Diamond Beach, where icebergs glisten on black sand. Continue to Fjallsárlón Glacial Lagoon in Vatnajökull National Park for a boat excursion among massive floating icebergs. Cross the Skeiðarársandur outwash plains to Svinafellsjokull Glacier, famous for its brilliant blue ice formations. Return to Kirkjubæjarklaustur for dinner.

DAY 6, Monday – The Golden Circle & Hamar

Visit Friðheimar Tomato Farm, learn about geothermal horticulture, enjoy a fresh tomato soup lunch, and witness a horse show featuring the famous Icelandic horse. Explore Gullfoss, Europe’s Golden Waterfall, then the Geysir Geothermal Area and its erupting Strokkur hot spring. Conclude with Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet and the world’s oldest parliament first convened in 930 AD. Overnight in Hamar.

DAY 7, Tuesday – Borgarfjörður Valley & Snæfellsnes Peninsula

Venture to the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, renowned for its diverse geology, lava fields, volcanoes, glaciers, mineral springs, caves, and bird colonies. Visit Bjarnarhöfn Farm, famous for hákarl (cured shark), and learn about Greenland sharks. Admire Snæfellsjökull Glacier, atop a majestic stratovolcano, before arriving at your hotel in the Snæfellsnes Peninsula region for dinner.

DAY 8, Wednesday – Snæfellsnes to Reykjavik via Settlement Center

En route back to Reykjavik, stop at Ytri-Tunga to potentially spot seals along the coastline. Visit the Settlement Center in Borgarnes to explore Iceland’s Viking history and their transatlantic voyages in the 800s. Arrive in Reykjavik in the afternoon and check in. Conclude the day with a farewell dinner with your Tour Manager.

DAY 9, Thursday – Depart Iceland

Transfer to Keflavík Airport for your departure flight, bringing home memories of glaciers, waterfalls, fjords, and geothermal wonders.
