Camino de Santiago Walking Itinerary – 8 Days / 6 Nights


Day 1 – Monday

Depart for Portugal

Your pilgrimage adventure begins as you depart for Portugal, gateway to the historic Camino routes of the Iberian Peninsula.

Overnight flight to Porto.


Day 2 – Tuesday

Arrive in Porto & Transfer to Arcos de Valdevez

Arrive in Porto, famous for its historic riverfront and world-renowned port wine.

Transfer to your hotel in Arcos de Valdevez, a charming town surrounded by the lush landscapes of northern Portugal.

The remainder of the day is free to relax or explore the scenic surroundings.

In the evening, meet your Tour Manager for an orientation meeting followed by a welcome dinner.

Day 3 – Wednesday

Ecovia Trail Walk, Santa Trega & Pontevedra City Tour

Begin the day with a walk along the scenic Ecovia Trail in Ponte de Lima, one of Portugal’s oldest towns, originally founded as a Roman settlement over two millennia ago.

Next travel to O Rosal for a visit to Terras Gauda Winery, where you will enjoy a guided tour and lunch featuring regional wines.

Continue to the ancient hilltop settlement of Santa Trega Archaeological Site, dating back to the 4th century BC and offering spectacular views over the Miño River estuary.

Later arrive in Pontevedra for a guided city tour through its charming Old Town.

Afterward hike the scenic Ruta da Pedra e da Auga, one of the most picturesque walking trails in the region, following historic watermills and forest streams.

Continue to Pazo de Rubianes, a beautiful Galician estate surrounded by vineyards and gardens.

Enjoy lunch paired with local Albariño wine, followed by a guided visit of the palace and gardens.

Return to Pontevedra with free time in the evening.

Day 5 – Friday

Cambados Walk, Sculpture Garden & Galician Cooking Class

Travel to Cambados, famous for its historic monuments and Albariño wine.

Begin your walk from the historic Pazo de Fefiñáns toward the coastal Tower of San Sadurniño, originally built to defend the Galician coast from Viking raids.

Continue through the wetlands of the Umia River Nature Park to reach the Manolo Paz Foundation, created by Spanish sculptor Manolo Paz.

Later participate in an interactive Galician cooking class, learning how to prepare traditional regional dishes.

In the afternoon, enjoy a scenic catamaran cruise to Pontecesures, retracing the legendary journey of the stone boat that carried the remains of Saint James the Apostle.

Day 6 – Saturday

Camino Trail to Santiago de Compostela

Today walk the final section of the Portuguese Way of the Camino de Santiago.

Entering the historic Old Town, arrive at the magnificent Praza do Obradoiro, where pilgrims celebrate reaching the end of the Camino.

Here stand before the majestic Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, one of the most important Christian pilgrimage destinations in the world.

Opportunity to attend the Pilgrim’s Mass.

Later enjoy lunch followed by a guided city tour of Santiago de Compostela.

Day 7 – Sunday

Tui, Valença do Minho Walk & Porto Wine Experience

Travel to the medieval town of Tui.

From here walk across the Minho River via the iron bridge designed by Gustave Eiffel.

Arrive in the fortified Portuguese town of Valença do Minho, where you will have free time to explore the impressive 12th-century fortress and charming streets.

Later travel to Porto.

Visit a traditional port wine cellar to learn about the production of the famous fortified wine Port wine, followed by a tasting session.

Day 8 – Monday

Depart Portugal
