As you walk through this enchanting neighborhood, you will discover why Santa Cruz is one of the most popular areas in Seville.
The scent of orange blossoms often fills the streets, while traditional Andalusian architecture creates a beautiful backdrop for photographs.
Your guide will explain the history of the former Jewish community and point out some of the neighborhood’s most interesting hidden corners.
Continue toward the monumental Seville Cathedral, one of the most impressive Gothic cathedrals in the world.
The cathedral was constructed on the site of a former mosque and reflects the complex history of Seville following the Christian conquest.
We will make an external visit to the cathedral and admire its enormous Gothic structure from the surrounding historic squares.
Next to the cathedral stands La Giralda, the city’s legendary bell tower and one of the most recognizable symbols of Seville.
Originally constructed as the minaret of the city’s mosque, La Giralda was later transformed into a Christian bell tower. Its distinctive architecture is a remarkable example of the cultural layers that make Seville so fascinating.
Depending on the available time and opening conditions, you may have the opportunity during your free time to visit the cathedral’s interior or climb La Giralda.
Across from the cathedral lies one of Seville’s greatest treasures: the Royal Alcázar of Seville.
This extraordinary palace complex combines Islamic, Gothic, Renaissance, and Mudéjar influences and is one of the oldest royal residences in Europe still in use.
