Meet your professional English-speaking guide and travel in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle toward the beautiful hills of Sintra. As we leave Lisbon behind, your guide will introduce you to the history, culture and landscapes of the Lisbon region.
The drive to Sintra takes you through some of the most attractive scenery surrounding the Portuguese capital.
Our first destination is Sintra, one of Portugal’s most enchanting towns and a UNESCO World Heritage destination.
Nestled among the lush Sintra Mountains, the town has been a favorite retreat of Portuguese royalty, aristocrats and artists for centuries. Its combination of dense forests, colorful palaces, historic estates and traditional streets makes Sintra one of the most fascinating places to visit near Lisbon.
During your visit, you will have time to explore the historic center and enjoy the unique atmosphere of this picturesque mountain town.

From Sintra, we continue into the mountains to one of Portugal’s most famous landmarks: Pena National Palace.
Perched dramatically on the highest point of the Sintra Hills, this magnificent 19th-century palace is famous for its vibrant colors, romantic architecture and spectacular panoramic views.
Originally developed as a monastery and later transformed into a royal summer residence by King Ferdinand II, Pena Palace represents one of the finest examples of 19th-century Romantic architecture in Europe.
We will travel up the mountain and use the available shuttle/tram service to reach the palace entrance.
Inside, you can discover the beautifully preserved royal rooms, historic decorations and fascinating stories behind the palace and the Portuguese royal family.
From the terraces, you can also enjoy breathtaking views across the Sintra Mountains and, on clear days, toward the Atlantic Ocean.

After exploring Sintra and Pena Palace, we continue toward the Atlantic coast and the elegant seaside town of Cascais.

Take a leisurely walk through the historic center, admire the traditional architecture and enjoy the atmosphere around the marina and waterfront.
You will have time to take photographs, explore the local streets and, if time permits, enjoy a coffee or a quick refreshment overlooking the Atlantic.

Leaving Cascais, we follow the spectacular coastline toward Estoril.
This beautiful stretch of the Portuguese Riviera is famous for its sandy beaches, elegant seaside resorts and dramatic Atlantic scenery.
Enjoy a relaxing panoramic drive along the coast while your guide points out some of the area’s most interesting landmarks and viewpoints.
Depending on traffic and the conditions on the day, we may make short photo stops along the coast.
After discovering Sintra and the Portuguese Riviera, we return to Lisbon for an afternoon sightseeing tour of the Portuguese capital.
Lisbon is one of Europe’s oldest capitals and was once at the heart of a vast maritime empire. During the Age of Discoveries, Portuguese explorers sailed from Lisbon toward Africa, Asia and the Americas, bringing new cultures, goods and wealth back to the city.
Our Lisbon sightseeing tour introduces you to the city’s historic neighborhoods, magnificent monuments and spectacular viewpoints.
We continue toward the historic heart of Lisbon and the hills overlooking the city.
From a panoramic viewpoint near São Jorge Castle, you can enjoy impressive views across Lisbon, the Tagus River and the historic Alfama district.
Alfama is Lisbon’s oldest neighborhood, famous for its narrow streets, traditional houses, tiled facades and historic atmosphere.
Your guide will share stories about Lisbon’s Moorish heritage, medieval history and the devastating earthquake that transformed the city in the 18th century.

Admire the magnificent exterior of the Jerónimos Monastery, one of Portugal’s most remarkable examples of Manueline architecture.
Built during Portugal’s prosperous Age of Discoveries, the monastery reflects the wealth and maritime achievements of the Portuguese kingdom.
If you wish to enter the monument, admission can be arranged separately depending on the tour option and opening conditions.
Continue to the famous Belém Tower, one of Lisbon’s most recognizable landmarks.
Built on the banks of the Tagus River, this historic fortress played an important role in protecting Lisbon and commemorating Portugal’s maritime achievements.
It is an excellent location for photographs and a highlight of any Lisbon sightseeing tour.
Finally, we stop at the impressive Monument to the Discoveries.
