Day 4 – Little Petra | Petra Back Door Trail | Petra | Amman

After breakfast, prepare for the final and most spectacular stage of your trekking adventure.

Today you combine wilderness hiking with one of Jordan’s greatest archaeological treasures: Petra.

Little Petra

Begin near Little Petra, also known as Siq al-Barid.

This fascinating Nabataean site features narrow sandstone passages, rock-cut structures and ancient chambers.

Although smaller than Petra itself, Little Petra provides valuable insight into the Nabataean civilization and its trading network.

Take time to explore the site and photograph the extraordinary rock formations.

Petra Back Door Trail

From Little Petra, continue along the spectacular Petra Back Door Trail.

This alternative approach allows you to experience Petra from a completely different perspective.

Instead of beginning with the traditional Siq entrance, follow the historic trail through the mountains toward the archaeological heart of Petra.

The landscape becomes increasingly dramatic as sandstone cliffs and hidden valleys surround the route.

Eventually, the ancient monuments of Petra appear across the landscape.

Enter Petra

Arrive at the archaeological site and enjoy the extraordinary feeling of reaching Petra after several days of trekking through Jordan’s wilderness.

Depending on the final route and conditions, you may have time to explore major areas of Petra before completing the tour.

Petra – The Rose-Red City

Discover the spectacular ancient Nabataean city, famous for its rock-cut architecture and rose-colored sandstone.

Highlights may include:

  • Treasury
  • Royal Tombs
  • Street of Facades
  • Colonnaded Street
  • Great Temple area
  • Ancient rock-cut structures
  • Dramatic mountain viewpoints

After completing the Petra experience, meet your driver and begin the journey back toward Amman or continue to your next destination in Jordan.
