Our shore excursion begins with a scenic drive from the Port of Cartagena to Murcia, located approximately 50 km (31 miles) away. Murcia is often referred to as “Europe’s Orchard” thanks to its long agricultural traditions and its important production and export of fresh fruits, vegetables, and flowers.
Before arriving in the city, we will make a stop at the beautiful Fuensanta Sanctuary, dedicated to the Virgin of Fuensanta. Located within a natural park overlooking Murcia, the sanctuary offers spectacular panoramic views across the city and the fertile Segura Valley. It is the perfect introduction to the landscapes and culture of the Murcia region.
Continue into the heart of Murcia and explore its charming old quarter with your expert guide. Wander through historic streets and squares while learning about the city’s fascinating history and cultural heritage.
One of the highlights is the impressive Cathedral of Murcia, an architectural masterpiece whose construction and expansion developed over more than five centuries. Admire its remarkable façade, historic details, and distinctive combination of architectural styles.

The second part of your Cartagena shore excursion takes you through this fascinating Mediterranean port city, where centuries of history come together.
Discover the atmospheric old city quarters, see important historic landmarks, and learn about Cartagena’s Roman heritage. One of the main highlights is the impressive Roman Theater of Cartagena, one of the city’s most important archaeological monuments.
You can choose to visit the Roman Theater from inside for an additional €7 per person, or enjoy some free time around Town Hall Square for coffee, local shopping, or simply relaxing before returning to the port.
At the end of the excursion, your private vehicle will take you safely back to the Port of Cartagena with plenty of time before your ship’s scheduled departure.
