DETAILED ITINERARY

DAY 1 – ARAVA BORDER → PETRA → ARAVA BORDER

Private Guided Petra Day Tour

Your unforgettable Petra tour from Eilat begins at the Arava Border crossing between Israel and Jordan.

After completing the Israeli border procedures, you will cross into Jordan, where our local representative will welcome you on the Jordanian side of the Arava Border.

Our representative will provide meet-and-assist service and help you with the necessary border and entry procedures. Once the formalities are completed, you will meet your professional English-speaking driver and board your comfortable, air-conditioned private vehicle.

Journey to Petra

From the Arava Border, begin your approximately 2-hour scenic drive to Petra. During the journey, enjoy views of the spectacular Jordanian landscape as you travel toward Wadi Musa, the gateway to Petra.

Upon arrival in Petra, our team will coordinate your entrance arrangements and introduce you to your professional English-speaking Petra site guide.

PETRA GUIDED TOUR

Your guided exploration begins at the main entrance of Petra.

Walk toward the legendary Siq, a spectacular narrow canyon formed naturally between towering sandstone cliffs. The Siq is approximately 1.2 km long and provides one of the most dramatic entrances to the ancient city.

As you walk through the canyon, your guide will explain the history of the Nabataeans, the ancient civilization that transformed Petra into an important commercial and cultural center.

As the Siq opens, you will experience one of the most memorable moments of the tour: the first view of the magnificent Treasury – Al-Khazneh.

The Treasury

Admire Petra’s most iconic monument, dramatically carved directly into the rose-colored sandstone cliffs.

Your guide will explain the history, architecture, and legends surrounding this extraordinary monument. This is also an excellent opportunity for photography.

Street of Facades

Continue deeper into Petra and discover the Street of Facades, where a series of impressive Nabataean tombs and monumental structures are carved into the cliffs.

Your guide will explain how Petra developed from a Nabataean trading center into one of the most remarkable archaeological sites in the Middle East.

Petra Theater

Continue to the ancient Theater, a large structure carved partly into the mountain and capable of accommodating thousands of spectators.

Learn about the cultural and social life of the Nabataean people and the later civilizations that occupied Petra.

Nymphaeum

Continue toward the Nymphaeum, an ancient public fountain area that provides another fascinating insight into Petra’s sophisticated water-management system.

Your guide will explain how the Nabataeans successfully collected, stored, and transported water through one of the region’s most challenging desert environments.

Qasr al-Bint

Continue toward Qasr al-Bint, one of the most important free-standing monuments in Petra.

This impressive ancient temple offers a fascinating glimpse into the religious traditions and architectural achievements of the Nabataeans.

Royal Tombs

Your tour will also include views of the impressive Royal Tombs, a collection of monumental burial chambers carved into Petra’s mountainside.

The colorful sandstone layers and enormous carved façades make this one of the most spectacular photography areas in Petra.

FREE TIME IN PETRA

Following your approximately 2.5–3-hour guided tour, enjoy some free time to explore Petra at your own pace.

You may take additional photographs, revisit your favorite viewpoints, browse the local handicraft areas, or simply enjoy the atmosphere of this extraordinary archaeological site.

Please note that Petra is a large archaeological area and involves considerable walking over uneven surfaces. Guests should allow sufficient time and energy for walking.

LUNCH IN WADI MUSA

After your Petra exploration, return toward the main entrance and meet your driver.

A pre-arranged lunch will be available at a local restaurant in Wadi Musa, the town located next to Petra.

Enjoy a relaxing meal and a chance to rest after your exploration of the ancient city.

Lunch is arranged separately according to the selected package and dietary requirements.

RETURN TO THE ARAVA BORDER

After lunch, meet your professional driver and begin the approximately 2-hour return journey toward the Arava Border.

Upon arrival at the Jordanian side of the border, our representative will assist you as required.

After completing the border procedures, cross back into Israel and continue your journey independently.
