Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1 – Sunday | Depart for Rwanda

Begin your journey to East Africa as you depart for Rwanda, the “Land of a Thousand Hills,” home to mountain gorillas and stunning volcanic landscapes.


Day 2 – Monday | Arrive in Kigali

Welcome to Kigali, Rwanda’s vibrant capital city known for its cleanliness and stunning hilltop views.

Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure to relax after your international flight.

Overnight: Kigali


Day 3 – Tuesday | Kigali City Tour & Travel to Volcanoes National Park

This morning, explore the highlights of Kigali on a guided city tour.

Visit the moving Kigali Genocide Memorial, an important tribute to Rwanda’s history and resilience.

Continue through the modern Central Business District and bustling local neighborhoods before departing for Volcanoes National Park, located in the scenic Virunga Mountains.

En route, stop at the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International to learn about the legendary conservation work protecting Rwanda’s mountain gorillas.

Arrive at your lodge for an orientation meeting followed by dinner.

Day 4 – Wednesday | Gorilla Trekking Adventure

Today is one of the most extraordinary wildlife experiences on Earth — mountain gorilla trekking.

After a ranger briefing, hike through the misty forests of the Virunga Volcanoes searching for one of the park’s habituated gorilla families.

The trek may take between 1 and 7 hours depending on the gorillas’ location. Once located, you’ll spend a magical hour observing these incredible primates in their natural habitat.

Watch them interact, feed, groom, and play — a truly life-changing experience.

Return to the lodge later and enjoy a coffee tasting experience and relaxation.

Day 5 – Thursday | Golden Monkey Tracking

This morning, trek through bamboo forests in search of the endangered Golden Monkeys of Volcanoes National Park.

These playful primates are unique to the Virunga Mountains and are known for their energetic and curious behavior.

In the afternoon, join a traditional Rwandan cooking experience and enjoy tasting the dishes prepared.

Celebrate your final evening in Rwanda with dinner at the lodge.

Day 6 – Friday | Kigali Museum & Flight to Nairobi

Travel back to Kigali and visit the fascinating Kandt House Museum, showcasing Rwanda’s colonial history, biodiversity, and path to independence.

After lunch, transfer to the airport for your flight to Nairobi.

Arrive and check into your hotel before enjoying an evening at leisure.

Day 7 – Saturday | Lake Nakuru National Park Safari

Drive through the Great Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru National Park, famous for its flamingos and rhino population.

Enjoy an afternoon game drive searching for both black and white rhinos, giraffes, zebras, and numerous bird species.

Day 8 – Sunday | Masai Mara National Reserve Safari

Journey to the legendary Masai Mara National Reserve, one of Africa’s greatest wildlife destinations.

After lunch at camp, head out for your first Masai Mara game drive, where lions, elephants, cheetahs, and wildebeest roam freely across the savannah.

Day 9 – Monday | Full-Day Masai Mara Safari

Spend the day exploring the vast plains of the Masai Mara.

Search for the famous Big Five:

  • Lion

  • Elephant

  • Leopard

  • Buffalo

  • Rhinoceros

The reserve is also home to cheetahs, hyenas, gazelles, hippos, and hundreds of bird species.

Day 10 – Tuesday | Cross into Tanzania & Serengeti Safari

Travel south to the Kenya–Tanzania border at Isebania/Sirari.

After border formalities, enter Tanzania and continue into the vast wilderness of Serengeti National Park, famous for the Great Migration and incredible wildlife density.

Enjoy a game drive en route to your safari camp.

Day 11 – Wednesday | Serengeti Wildlife Safari

Spend the day exploring the endless plains of the Serengeti on thrilling game drives.

Optional experience:

Serengeti Sunrise Hot Air Balloon Safari followed by a champagne bush breakfast.

This UNESCO-listed ecosystem hosts one of the largest concentrations of wildlife on the planet.

Day 12 – Thursday | Ngorongoro Crater Safari

Travel to the spectacular Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Descend 2,000 feet into the Ngorongoro Crater, often called Africa’s “Garden of Eden,” where thousands of animals live within the crater walls.

Day 13 – Friday | Tanzania to Kenya – Amboseli National Park

Drive to Arusha and visit the Shanga Workshop, a social enterprise producing beautiful glass artwork.

Cross the border at Namanga and continue to Amboseli National Park, known for its massive elephant herds and stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Day 14 – Saturday | Amboseli Safari

Spend the day exploring Amboseli’s wetlands and plains.

Day 15 – Sunday | Flight to Zanzibar & Stone Town

Fly from Nairobi to the historic island of Zanzibar.

Arrive in Stone Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its Swahili architecture and maze-like streets.

Day 16 – Monday | Stone Town Tour & Sunset Dhow Cruise

Explore Stone Town on a guided walking tour.

Later, transfer to a beachfront resort and in the evening enjoy a traditional dhow sunset cruise across the Indian Ocean.

Day 17 – Tuesday | Zanzibar Spice Tour

Visit a lush spice plantation where cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon, and vanilla grow.

Later explore the historic Kidichi Persian Baths, built for Sultan Said’s wife.

Day 18 – Wednesday | Zanzibar Leisure Day

Relax on Zanzibar’s beautiful beaches or join the optional excursion to Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park, home of the rare red colobus monkey.

Optional excursion also includes Prison Island and its giant Aldabra tortoises.

Day 19 – Thursday | Depart Tanzania

Transfer to the airport for your flight to Dar es Salaam and connect with your international departure.
