Day 2
Your guide will pick you up after breakfast and we will drive through the amazing Cappadocian scenery back to Goreme where you will be able to visit the world-famous Goreme Open Air Museum including the Dark Church. Your guide will explain the meanings of the frescos in the cave churches, decorated with scenes of the Old and New Testaments dating back as far as the 10th century. The site has been used as a monastery since the first years of Christianity. For lunch we will visit a traditional restaurant Ortahisar village, in the midst of homes hewn into the side of a rocky fortress rising above Cappadocia. Experience the local specialty, the testi kebap – a delicious stew cooked inside a clay pot. After lunch we make several photo stops along the way – including Urgup’s family fairy chimneys, Devrent‘s animal-shaped rock formations and the Monk’s Valley with its famous mushroom-shaped fairy chimneys as well as St. Simeon’s monk’s cell carved into the rock. The last stop is in Ürgüp, a town where you will visit a winery and have an opportunity to taste the local Cappadocian wines.
We can organise your transfer to the airport for your evening flight or back to your authentic cave hotel for an overnight stay and continue your vacation.
