Summary of The Day: In the morning we’ll meet our guide and the rest of our group as we start out amazing tour through the UK.

We’ll kick things off with a scenic drive to Calais. Our coach will either cross the English Channel by ferry or via Eurotunnel, ultimately arriving at Port of Dover. Enjoy the drive across the beautiful English countryside en route to London.

Tips: There is a Euro 10 dollar toll per passenger to cross the English Channel, payable to the tour leader prior to departure. You will not be allowed to board the motorcoach until the toll is paid in full.

Summary of The Day: We’ll begin our thrilling UK tour with a walking tour of London’s major attractions (exterior only): Big Ben, House of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, 10 Downing Street, Whitehall, St James Park, Buckingham Palace and River Thames.

In the afternoon, we’ll visit the famous British Museum, and if time allows, St Paul’s Cathedral. You’ll enjoy the scene of Tower Bridge and Tower of London while on board the motorcoach.

We’ll stay overnight in London or a neighboring city.

London – Cambridge – York
Summary of The Day: After breakfast at the hotel, we’ll depart London to visit one of England’s most prestigious educational institutions: Cambridge University, comprising King’s College and Queen’s College, among many other world-famous faculties.

After exploring this historic city we’ll journey to York, a true medieval melting pot of Roman, Saxon and Viking heritage. Mostly intact from the Middle Ages, the city is emblematic of England’s more bucolic side. We’ll visit York Minster, the largest Gothic cathedral in northern Europe. Then we’ll step up onto the York city walls, dating back to Roman times.

For those keen to discover the little grass-roots shops, there will be ample time to explore.

York – Edinburgh – Glasgow
Summary of The Day: Today we’ll cross the border into Scotland and visit the country’s compact but fascinating capital, Edinburgh, the perfect representation of Scottish heritage. Wooden barrows of gold single malt whiskey, checked kilts and Scottish bagpipes will make you grow fond of this lively nation full of quirky characters.

First up on the agenda is a visit to Edinburgh Castle (admission not included) where we will admire the oldest royal crown and jewelry. From here we’ll continue down the Royal Mile to Holyrood Palace, City Hall and the Royal Parks. You may also opt to join us for a visit to JK Rowling’s Ivory Cafe, where Harry Potter was penned, to enjoy a cup of coffee (own expense).

Glasgow – Gretna Green – Lake District – Manchester
Summary of The Day: In the morning, we’ll head back across the border to the Northwest of England. Here we’ll drive straight to Lake District, and en route we’ll make a stop in Gretna Green, a village in the south of Scotland famous for ‘runaway marriages’ dating back to 1754.

The most famous and visited national park in England, the Lake District National Park is a picturesque landscape of rolling hills, stunning lakes, and beautiful foliage. Each year tens of thousands of visitors travel here to see thousands of years of geological changes reflected in the lakes, valleys, mountains, and waterfalls. You may opt to join a cruise on Lake Windermere (own expense), or hop off at the World of Beatrix Potter.

We’ll end the day with a drive to Manchester, the headquarters of Manchester United, as well as England’s most industrial metropolis. Football fans will enjoy a pilgrimage to the Manchester United Old Trafford grounds.

Summary of The Day: From Manchester we’ll take a breath-taking drive to the famous English playwright William Shakespeare’s hometown: Stratford-Upon-Avon. From the cobblestone streets to the drinking dens, theatres and road signs, everything is to do with Shakespeare – a heavenly place for the romantically inclined.

The most anticipated outing of the day is the Bicester Village outlet shopping center, home to more than 130 fashion and lifestyle boutiques, including Gucci, Armani, Prada, Calvin Klein, Dunhill, DKNY, Burberry, Paul Smith, Bally, and Clark’s, offering savings of up to 60% year round.

Summary of The Day: Today we’ll travel from Dover to Calais by ferry. After the one and a half hour ferry crossing, we will arrive in France and drive back to Paris.

Lucerne – Milan – Venice
Summary of The Day: After breakfast, we’ll depart Switzerland and journey south into Italy to visit the design and couture-conscious city of Milan. Our sightseeing tour here we’ll lead us to Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II (exterior only), the oldest shopping arcade in the world; the legendary opera house La Scala (exterior only); the storied Sforza Castle (exterior only); and the ostentatious Gothic of Milan Cathedral (exterior only).

Then we’ll travel to Venice.

Venice – Rome
Summary of The Day: After breakfast, we’ll lead you on a tour of this fascinating city of ornate palaces, lyrical waterways, captivating churches and impressive architecture. In San Marco Square you’ll see the Basilica di San Marco, one of the best examples of Byzantine architecture, and the Bridge of Sighs connecting the old prison to the interrogation rooms in Doge’s Palace.

Afterwards, you’ll get a chance to see some traditional Venetian craftswork at a demonstration by Murano glassblowers. An optional gondola ride on the Grand Canal will put the finishing touch on a glorious day in Venice (admission not included).

Rome – Vatican City – Arezzo
Summary of The Day: We’ll begin today with a scrumptious breakfast before heading to the Vatican City.

Prepare yourselves and your camera as we visit one of the most architecturally renowned structures in the world. First,l we’ll head directly to St. Peter’s Basilica, originally built by Constantine the Great in 324 AD, then reconstructed between 1506 and 1615 under the direction of several famous architects including Bramante, Raphael and Michelangelo. You may also join the optional Sistine Chapel tour to view Michelangelo’s famous frescoes (own expense).

Next, we’ll return to Rome city proper and pay a visit to the famous Trevi Fountain, the lavish Baroque showpiece where people flock to throw coins into the water – an action which is said to ensure that you’ll return to the city again one day.

After lunch, we’ll travel further back in time and visit Italy’s unrivaled Roman relics. An optional guided tour of the Colosseum (admission not included), built in AD 72, comes highly recommended. History comes to life as you imagine yourself witnessing gladiatorial combat inside the spectacular amphitheatre. You may also choose to walk at your leisure around the outside to admire the facade of this ancient wonder.

After the Colosseum, get up close to the nearby Arch of Constantine, which dates back to the fourth century AD, then spend some further free time enjoying Rome, sampling the rich and creamy delights of gelato.

After some free time you can either visit Basilique Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri (Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels and the Martyrs) near Piazza della Repubblica, or head directly to the nearby Mitsukoshi Department store for some serious shopping.

Florence – Pisa – Genoa
Summary of The Day: Today we’ll journey further through Italy and encounter the sights and sounds of Florence, the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance. We’ll head up to the Piazzale Michelangelo for a panoramic view of Florence, then to a local workshop to see how Florence’s fine leather goods are made.

Afterwards, we’ll set out on foot to the Ponte Vecchio over the Arno River, the Duomo, Giotto’s Bell Tower and the Uffizi (exterior only), which houses one of the finest art collections in the world.

Next, we’ll travel to Pisa, where you’ll be free to wander; be sure to have your camera ready when you enter the Square of Miracles and the iconic Leaning Tower of Pisa, Pisa Cathedral and Baptistery come into full view.

We finish our evening by continuing on to Genoa or a city nearby for an overnight stay.

Genoa – Monaco – Nice – Cannes – Avignon
Summary of The Day: Our journey back to France begins today as we take a breathtaking drive along one of the most sublime stretches of Mediterranean coastline and say farewell to Italy.

But before we arrive in France we’ll visit the independent city state of Monaco. Here we’ll take a walking tour to see the exterior of the Prince’s Palace of Monaco, the Courthouse, the Oceanographic Museum and Saint Nicholas Cathedral, the resting place of Grace Kelly. We’ll then travel to the Fragonard Perfume Factory to learn about the perfume-making process. At the end of the guided tour you will be able to purchase one of the fragrances for yourself.

Next we’ll cross into France and visit Nice for a sampling of the scrumptious local cuisine.

We’ll stop over in Cannes to see the Palais des Festivals et des Congres, host of the city’s annual international film festival, and then make our way to Avignon Nord to check in to our hotel.
